MessageJudging by your post you are a pretty fit person. 8, even 12kg is not really heavy weight for you. I would try increasing the weight.
As getting another KB is not a cheap experiment, try lift faster, increase the volume and make breaks between sets shorter.
Having said that, the diet is the key to losing weight. I like low carb/high fat. Try to find yours.
