well, I agree that if the dog was wild it would be eating essentialy the WD. just as wild humans did. But since you've been giving the dog 2/day feedings, it is already phsychologically adapted to that. and like what upchic said, the dog would probly start rumiging and digging shit up. unlike other animals, us humans can understand the conept of a diet and try to break our pshychological barriers in the first stages of the diet. I don't think I'd be able to explain to a dog that he's going on a diet (unless its snoopy). But, if you proceed with the diet, the dog will eventually adapt to the pattern change at the cost of a large mess. But I wouldn't do it unless the dog was wild.
I agree with Ted2 in the raw foods diet. raw foods are the way to go for the most nutrients, but the reason why I don't eat most of my meat raw is the poor quality of farmed catle and all the chemicals thats in the ground and all the chemicals they pump into the cows will make one sick when eaten raw. I'm not a vet, I don't know how a dogs digestive system is different from a humans. But unless your geting organic raw meats, I can't see the pet food manufacturers giving a shit of the meat quality.
Some other thigns to consider are. that the dog is domesticated so, its usually cooped up in the house and barely burning any calories (other than on walks) but if it was wild it would be all over the place and attemping to catch prey and doing alot of physical activity. So another thing to consider for our domesticated dog is that the dog would have to go through physical stress prior to eating for the diet to work well. so maybe get the dog on some doggy KB's or the squat rack before feedings.
This topic is awesome! lol, I've never been so into a post.
thanks.
