I just replied to this message but when I submitted it, the post vanished. I'll try it again but excuse the repetition if the other post shows up as well.
In short, the thing to know about the China Study is that you replace meat with grains & beans. You do not really eat any more veggies than you would on a standard diet. That being said, there is the same danger with this diet as with other Vegan diets: if you do not do your research you will hurt yourself. E.g., rice (the default grain) is relatively low in nutrients whereas amaranth has over 10 grams of protein per serving. Accordingly if you replace meat with rice you will be starving yourself. So just don't be a 'cheese pizza and iceburg lettuce' vegetarian.
I am confident that amaranth and hulled barley contain enough building blocks for an average life. But many people on this forum are not average; they are elite athletes. I am not sure that elite bodies can make due without meat. It is for this reason that I have augmented my usually vegan diet with eggs and fish.
EDIT: I pushed the 'send' button before I answered your question. Even though I have been eating this way for about a decade, I cannot believe the claim that this diet cures everything. I eat this way to be beyond the grasp of the meat and dairy industries, I eat this way to save a lot of money, but I have to summarily dismiss anyone who says they have all the answers to life's problems in one theory.
