First, post this again in the Strength & Conditioning Forum (this is the nutrition forum) and you'll get more answers.
KB swings work similar to GM's in that they work the posterior chain (which includes the hamstrings). Swings are done for much higher repititions and therefore work the muscles in a different way. They are more for conditioning, but if a heavy enough bell is used will build strength as well.
Do not do stiff leg GM's. If you do this with a decent weight, you will tople forward and the weight will come crashing down on you. Deadlift or do regular GM's instead.
