MessageIntermittant fasting is gaining momentum as more research either directly or indirectly supports the health benefits of significantly reducing calories.
Here's a reference: http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20030607/food.asp
Also, I recently saw a study that concluded that reduced heart disease in devout Mormons was due to their one day of fasting per MONTH.
As for how this will translate into athletic performance or weight loss, that's not so clear. After a day of fasting you may overeat the next day. The research says that the overeating won't hurt you health, but it may not help your waistline.
