MessageDr. Berardi, Author of Precision Nutrition, has a program called the "Get Shredded Diet". Is is an extreme diet for people who compete in BB or anyone who would like to get all of the way down to 4-6% BF. His recommendation is to only do this diet once a year (maybe once/2 years) if I remember correctly, and you are garaunteed to feel pretty miserable, although it has been designed to maintain muscle and maximize nutrition as much as possible. I have never had any solid reason to try this type of diet.
I just eat lean protein and plenty of fresh veggies, lowfat milk, egg whites, & protein powder. Absolutely no sugar and very nearly zero carbs from anything made of grain. Eating that way causes your body to burn fat for energy instead of storing carbs. Drinking plenty of water will help aid your body in doing this. Taking 8g/day of fish oil (not all at once) helps to raise the metabolism (about 400 kcal/day) as well as having many other great benefits. Diet, HIIT training, and compound movements are your friends.
