Messagebecause grains and other starchy/sugary foods raise blood sugar telling your body to produce insulin to pull the excess sugars out of the blood (why you get tired after eating a lunch with carbs) and store it as fat.
Veggies are still carbohydrates but they are more complex and therefore take longer to enter the bloodstream preventing a spike in insulin levels.
