MessageHey, I'm not too familiar with the warrior diet. However it is on my reading list. My comment is towards the statement that calories in and calories out is the fundamental to weight loss. There is truth to this, but it gets a lot more complicated than that, calories is just a representation of the energy provided, and thus calorie counting does not take into consideration the hormonal response elicited from the food source. High-glycemic foods for instance drive insulin response which causes fat storage, so in this situation the amount of calories isn’t the only concern. For more info on this subject I strongly suggest checking out this month’s CrossFit Journal (issue 67) there is a great article on just that. Others ones to referance would be issue 21 for meal plans, and issue 3 for more info on glycemic index.
So I personally have had success with Zone Perfect blocking method (break down of food proportions and sources.) Keeping to the Paleolithic diet food sources; meat, nuts, seeds, fruit, and vegetables. Zone will have you eat 30% fat, 30% protein, and 40% low-mid glycemic carbohydrates. As well a simple test will show you roughly how many blocks to consume for your body and activity level. Take those proportions and eat only from Paleolithic diet friendly foods. This will sky rocket your fat loss and performance level while swinging that kettlebell. Hope this helps.
