I have posted what I do many times before here. I follow the WD most days, but I have no problem going off it for social reasons. I go off it almost every weekend, sometimes one day, sometimes both days. This year, e.g., my son and I are in the city every Saturday and we have a couple of hours to kill mid-morning between his classes, so we go out to brunch, and I've come to look forward to it. Likewise, if my wife happens to out and pick up fresh bagels on Sunday morning and I'm in the mood, I'll have one.
As I have said many times before here, one should look at eating much like one looks at training, IMHO. One size does not fit all, not every plan works for anyone forever, etc. - if it applies to training, it can likely be applied to dieting as well.
Many athletes, including some very good ones, cycle their training over much more than a day - a weekly, monthly, yearly, or even multi-year plan isn't unusual, and mix of all those is also quite common. For me, I tend to eat more and put on a few pounds in the winter, and by this time of the year I'm already dropping back to a summer weight. My weekly eating cycle features more food, and less strict eating in general, on the weekends and whenever I'm on vacation with my family.
My basic ideas of IF come from the Warrior and Anti-Estrogenic Diets. I try to keep my daytime eating (most days) to things that supply what I need without being heavy. My typical daytime consumption includes vitamins in the morning, coffee and/or tea during the day, and organic dried fruits and roasted nuts and/or a Warrior bar post-workout. If my schedule is hectic and I don't have time to sit down and have a big, relaxing meal, I will spread it out into several meals taken between about 4 and 10 pm. I try to have live yogurt/kefir almost every day and/or take a probiotic supplement 2x/day. Frankly, I think adding a probiotic would help a lot of people in a lot of ways - it's highly underrated but a very appropriate thing to do in modern, Western society where food is sterile.
Just my opinion, your mileage may vary. Pictures of my body composition are all over my web site, link below. My site also has a link to the Anti-Estrogenic Diet book's web site for anyone interested.
