There are a lot of theories and diets out there but at some point they all converge around a few basic thoughts.
Eat good food when you are hungry. Period.
Good foods are foods in their most natural, raw forms. Vegetables, meats, eggs, nuts, seeds, berries, fruit (seasonal and in moderation), milk (raw if you can get it) and enjoy low glycemic whole grains like oatmeal, barley, amaranth, and quinoa as a condiment.
Avoid: partially hydrogenated anything, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, refined grains, junk food of any kind, soda (pop). Fruit juice rarely and in moderation.
Drink a ton of water.
Be patient and loving with your parents. College is a tough time for them. They are struggling with letting go and building a world that doesn't revolve around you. They could probably use a hug. Be thankful and respectful to them no matter what they bring home from the grocery store.
