"One of the most effective protocols I use is a mix of healthy fats. Of course getting three to four servings of fruits and vegetables each day, along with plenty of healthy protein, is important, but the following supplement plan has worked wonders for many of my clients. Here's how it breaks down:
100-150 pounds: 4 Flameout capsules, 2 teaspoons Carlson's liquid fish oil, 4 240mg capsules of GLA.
150-200 pounds: 6 Flameout capsules, 4 teaspoons Carlson's liquid fish oil, 6 240mg capsules of GLA.
Over 200 pounds: 6 Flameout capsules, 2 tablespoons Carlson's liquid fish oil, 8 240mg capsules of GLA."
Wow, that seems like a lot. I generally try to take such advice from other than a trainer and have followed Barry Sears advice from "omega zone" Whatever one may think of Sears' marketing, he is a genius (noble prize nominee) and his guidelines from GLA are way way less. Sears suggest you can fulfull GLA requirement by eating a few bowls of stealcut oats a week.
1) Anyone know anything about GLA and in what ratio it should be combined with EPA/DHA so we can asses Chads suggestion with some science of some kind??? Personal experience?
2) His suggestion are for GLA as I read it. Borage oil is usually around 24% GLA so to get 1920mg of GLA you are looking at around 7 grams of borage. So 6 flamouts, 7 1000mg borage pills and two tablespoons of fishoil. Since flamout is almost all DHA it would end up being close to a 60/50 mix of DHA/EPA like you would get if you just used calsons cod liver oil in case flamout is out of stock as usual. OK. Any thoughts?
p.s. once again, Chad is bagging on the KBs..give it a break.
