MessageI never gained muscle eating in a paleo kind of way - I could get fat, though.
High carbs seems to work well. And of course that's really what everyone does who gains a good amount of muscle. Breakfast used to be 8 eggs and butter, now its 200g of oats, and honey (and butter still)
Milk fits in well, too.
Since you're 17 and way short of your family's average height then perhaps you'll grow naturally a lot yet. Have you grown in the past year? If so, then I wouldn't bother trying to force much weight gain.
But if you do, do it properly, and use the kind of training suitable for that goal.
