Carbs in our society are "bad" for about %80 of the population. What can you eat in nature? Meat, vegs, fruits, nuts and seeds. What grain can you eat in nature? You have to smash em and fill em full of air etc so they can be eaten. Look at the studies showing how bad cultures that exist on "quality" grain health was. Egypt for example: rotting teeth, diabetes, fat. Look at thoses that eat the way nature intended-strong teeth, lean bodies no diabetes. The processed carb industry (including wheat bread and other health food lies) are propagating a system based on profit margins and the ability to store said product. Our eyes face forward, look at our teeth, look at the acid profiles in our gut, look at our number of stomachs. We are not designed to eat grain. I have been training clients for 19 years. In every instance a high protein + veggies fruits nuts and seeds improves cholesterol, energy levels, blood pressure, and physical performance.
You also cannot look at archetypes for examples of success you have to look at the mean. There are many (about %20) that do well with carbs. There are athletes that because of their sport need more carbs-but that doesnt make them healthy-it makes them athletes. I did martial arts for 25 years-I got stronger, faster, more flexible etc. Would I say it was healthy? No cuz getting hit and kicked all the time is not a good idea even if it did improve various qualities. The real questions is can we get the improvements without the harms? That is the goal of the good diet routine and the good exercise routine.
Lastly you have the problem of insuin. Excessive exposure to insulin is now thought to cause negative gene expression (leading to early ageing, cancers etc). With a diet limited in carbs that cause insulin spikes you lessen this issue. With Intermitant Fasting or the Warrior Diet you get less exposure to excessive insulin due to undereating/overeating cycles. The myths about high protein diets are falling away just like the claims of high carb diets for non marathon type athletes and the claims of vegan/vegitarian diets. Lots to think about please post other questions :) zzzzzzz
I would like to add limiting calories seems to have a greater effect than even eating healthy. I have had many clients simply limit total calories even though they eat total garbage and they still succeed at better health have similar numbers to "healthy eating" clients etc. Calories seem to count more than ANYTHING and eating dense natural food gives ya the most weight of food for the amount of calories....studies have shown that people eat by weight. Since processed foods often are lower in weight, higher in calories for weight or both its easy to see where a lot of weight gain comes from....zzzzzzzzz
