MessageWild Alaskan is generally better than farm-raised Atlantic, both due to higher quantities of mercury generally in the latter, as well as environmental reasons. I also had always thought that wild had better fat statistics, though I can't remember my source for that information. (For the information on mercury, my source is my uncle, who is a wildlife biologist for NY.) That said, there are some salmon farms that are significant improvements over others -- if you can get specific information, evaluate that. A while back there was some press on the possibility of an "organic" designation for certain fish farms that met certain standards; I don't believe that's been established yet, however.
My own opinion is always to go for some balance -- some fish, some beef, some pork (maybe some chicken -- but don't tell Pavel). And take fish oils. I've yet to come across a negative review of that supplement.
