MessageI too am a kefir fermenter. I get raw milk at the local co-op. Got my grains from the same guy - Dom in Australia. When I used pastureized milk they stayed relatively small - about the size of a quarter. Since I started with the raw milk they are turbo grains. My culture is bigger than a baseball and barely makes it through the opening in my mason jar. I have to pull it apart when it gets too big.
As an added bonus, my wife thinks I am nuts ;-)
....and I haven't ventured into culturing vegies yet, but I will this summer. My 7 year old and I planted our first vegetable garden. Need to preserve the harvest!
