The time of year that I most look forward to is upon us here in the mid atlantic United States...farmers market season. Here in home sweet home Baltimore Maryland ours is weekly, every Sunday AM. We try to go as often as possible through out the summer, and my diet on those Sundays is usually very reflective of our haul for the week. So here's a peek at what today had to offer.
Breakfast(at the market, 8:00)
1 Curried Beef Patty(West Indian style turnover made from local organic ingredients)
1 bowl of Mushroom Quinoa(quinoa cooked with morrel and shitake mushrooms on a bed of greens, topped with a large grilled portabela, fresh basil, sheeps milk feta and hot sauce)
Feed #2(back at home 11:00)
1/2 cup of fresh, local blueberry kifer
several large organic strawberries
Since 11:00 we have worked on polishing off some leftover thai coconut milk soup and veggies as well as goat cheese(not from the market), but dinner will probably involve more fresh local veggies. We also picked up a large jar of local raw honey, and I spent awhile talking to a cattle farmer about the conditions of the cattle on their farm(45 minutes away), walking away with a price list for next week.
I love this time of year.
