MessageI'm fairly convinced that, at least in my case, the apparent need for sweet treats is mostly about needing more calories, e.g., I sometimes get to the end of hard day and find that I just haven't eaten enough, I'm tired, and even after a big evening meal, it's 10 pm and I just want a banana split, so that's what I have.
I agree completely that _what_ one goes for is largely about habit, e.g., last night I was hungry late, but I've been eating fairly clean recently, and my choice was full-fatted yogurt (greek and kefir), maple syrup, bananas, and almonds - definitely a calorie-laden choice, but a better choice than ice cream.
