I'm working on the RKC Minimum in Pavel's book Enter the Kettlebell. I knew that swings provided great cardio, but I never did them much because hey, I'm advanced in the knowledge of Kettlebelling, minus that whole RKC thing after my name.
Anyway, I've been doing it for two and a half weeks I think. I've not noticed any physical changes externally, yet and I'm not expecting that anyway. I've noticed that I can do more swings than I had done before.
Today was no different. I did the 12-minute man-maker in my garage. Instead of jump roping I slowly jogged around in a circle for 40 seconds to 1 minute. I went for 10 l,r on the swings and then 5 l,r. On some trips I did only the 10 l, r. Oh yeah, I used the 1 pood this time because I wanted to go for high numbers, or at least high for me.
My heart rate went up to 200+ bpm sometime during the set. I need to get a Heart Rate Monitor just for kicks one of these times.
Great workout. Tomorrow is the whole TGU day. I'll probably stick with the 1.5 pood.
I just can't say enough about the simplicity and effectiveness of the ETK system! It is really awesome.
I'm a former Jarhead who cannot do anything without it being told to him in exact detail, so before I got ETK, I did what the RKC book told me, but nothing too exact as far as a regiment.
Before ETK and before kettlebells, I worked out with weights and followed to a T the workout program found in Arnold's Schwarzenegger's book Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding.
I can think outside of the box on some items, but for some reason when it comes to PT, I need someone telling me what to do.
Thankfully, Comrade Pavel has become my new D.I. Thanks again.
Kris
