Joe missed one important part of Brook's training philosophy. Yes, he says train hard and heavy without waving the poundages, cycling the load, etc. But Brooks also says to take a week off each month. Sounds almost like Pavel saying back off (halve your reps) after the third week of training, doesn't it?
Make sure you carefully read the book, Joe. I found that if you don't read this and other training books slowly and carefully, you miss many important points. Don't rush through them in an effort to get to doing "the program". Take your time and make sure you understand all of "the program", then dive in.
BTW, I made some really good strength and size gains by following Brook's interpretation of the Reg Park 5x5 program. Trained hard for 3 weeks, took one off, start at where I left off for the next 3 weeks.
I'm not a competitive strength athlete like Jack, but Dino Training can and does work.
