Today was an unscheduled workout and I decided to give the 24k Jerk a try after a very long hiatus. I got 58 reps in 4 minutes with ONE hand switch (which was my first time). I tried again with a 32k bell (which is a kilo less than half of my bodyweight) and lasted only two minutes with 24 reps.
This doesn't make me a Master of Sport or anything but the method I used was just insane. Designed to measure pain tolerance more than endurance. I call it 'The Ironman'. I used the Tabata protocol as follows:
20 seconds of Jerks/10 seconds of rest in the rack position
X8-10 rounds each hand
Very brutal!
After that I set another PR with 7 reps left-7 reps right with the 32k Kettlebell Press Under. I simply transferred this drill from an Olympic assistance exercise called the pressing snatch balance (thank you Randy Hauer RKC for pointing that out).
