Steve and Rick many thanks for the replies they help alot.
Steve ,I do alot of bottom postion rack work and always thought my lower back was reasonably strong as it never rounded, the SSB has certainly proved me wrong.I think a drop in weight and more effort to avoid back rounding as you suggest may improve my lower back strength in the regular squat
Rick I never knew that about the bar.I did read something from Fred Hatfield saying how it takes the stress off the lower back and works the quads more than a regular squat which was somewhat confusing from my experience with the bar.A change in bar postion as you mentioned will allow that and I will certainly give that a try
