It depends on the quality of the Iron/steel used.The cheaper kettlebells are usually made from lower priced chinese/Indian steel.This type of Steel has a different look and even feel to it,and is not as strong.
I have Dragon Door bells and some cheaper makes, if doing double kettlebells and the cheaper bell hits the DD bell it can chip or as mentioned above can even break, the DD bells will not.This applies to any equipment such as Olympic bars which have been known to snap with less than half of the supposed load capacity.I suppose you get what you pay for in the end
